Spring

Crisp air, birds chirping, fresh blooms, and longer days — a season of growth, renewal, and playful exploration.

Butterfly

Materials:

Toilet paper roll, construction paper, pipe cleaners, fake eyes, crayons, glue, and scissors.

Depending on your toddler’s skill level, you may want to precut the butterfly wings and pipe cleaners, then assemble the body. Show a picture of the finished butterfly first, then let your child decorate it with glitter, stickers, and more!

Umbrella

Materials:

Paper plate, pipe cleaner, dot markers (or crayons), scissors, and glue.

Instructions:

Cut a paper plate in half and let your toddler color it using dot markers—call out each color as they paint. Once finished, attach a pipe cleaner handle and shape it like an umbrella hook.

Peacock

Materials:

Construction paper, fake eyes, feathers, and glue.

Instructions:

Trace and cut out a peacock body and feet ahead of time. Have your toddler glue on the body, eyes, and feathers—using words like “soft” and naming each color to build vocabulary.

Fruit Loop Rainbow

Materials:

Construction paper, writing utensil, glue, Fruit Loops, and cotton balls.

Instructions:

Draw a rainbow with three arcs and clouds at each end. Apply glue within the arcs and have your toddler place Fruit Loops and cotton balls—naming each color as they go.

Rays of Sunshine

Materials:

Paper plate, glue, scissors, orange and yellow construction paper.

Instructions:

Cut out the center of a paper plate and strips of colored paper. Have your toddler glue the strips around the edge, alternating colors. Pause occasionally to ask which color comes next!

Bunny Outline

Materials:

White canvas, dot markers (I chose green and yellow), construction paper, pom pom, glue, and masking tape.

Instructions:

Tape a paper bunny outline to the canvas. Let your toddler use dot markers around the outline, then glue on a pom pom for the tail.

Colorful Chicks

Materials:

Paper plate (cut in half), yellow and orange construction paper, fake eyes, tissue paper, glue, and optional feathers.

Instructions:

Pre-glue chick shapes onto a half plate. Have your toddler tear tissue paper, crunch it, and glue it down. Then add eyes, beaks, and feathers. It’s so cute!

Flower Arrangement

Materials:

White canvas, scissors, marker, and fake (or real) flowers.

Instructions:

Draw and color in a vase on the canvas. Make small slits at the top, then let your toddler insert flowers. Real flowers are fun, but fake ones last for years!

Paper Eggs

Materials:

White canvas, marker, paper flowers (e.g., clippings from old cards), and glue.

Instructions:

Draw a nest and eggs outline. Cut and glue paper flowers inside the eggs for a pretty collage.

Paper Plate Bunny

Materials:

Paper plate, pipe cleaner, white and pink construction paper, button, marker, scissors, and glue.

Instructions:

Draw the bunny’s face on a plate and cut out ears. Have your toddler glue the ear pieces and button nose, then add whiskers. We read a bunny-themed book to set the mood!

Green Shamrock

Materials:

Construction paper, scissors, green paint, and paintbrush.

Instructions:

Cut out a shamrock shape. Let your toddler paint it—hands-on painting is always a hit!

Flower Dots

Materials:

Pink construction paper, marker, dot markers, and scissors.

Instructions:

Cut out a flower outline and a center circle. Have your toddler use dot markers to fill in the center.

Summer

Golden sunshine, splashing water, blooming gardens, and long days filled with laughter and play.

Plate of Bugs

Materials:

Paper plate, dot markers, foam bugs, and glue.

Instructions:

Some of the simplest crafts bring out our kids’ creativity. First, have them stamp the plate with various dot-marker colors. Then they can glue the foam bugs onto the plate—it ends up looking like a flower made of bugs!

Ice Cream

Materials:

Blue, pink, white, yellow, and brown construction paper; glue; sprinkles; and scissors.

Instructions:

Cut a long yellow triangle to resemble an ice cream cone. Cut out scoops from white, brown, and pink paper. Have your toddler assemble the cone and scoops, then top with sprinkles! Tip: Ask your child to identify the shape of the paper cone.

Bug Hat

Materials:

White and black construction paper, black pipe cleaners, and a hole punch.

Instructions:

Cut out large white circles and smaller black circles for eyes. Wrap a strip of construction paper around your toddler’s head and staple it to fit comfortably. Glue the black circles onto the white circles, then attach them to the headband. Poke two holes on either side and thread pipe cleaners through as antennae.

Dot Ladybug

Materials:

Black and red dot markers, paper plate, black pipe cleaners, black construction paper, scissors, and glue.

Instructions:

Cut a paper plate in half and prepare legs and a face shape. Have your toddler stamp black and red dots onto the plate, then glue on pipe-cleaner legs and the paper face. Optional: Add a photo of your child in the center for a personal touch!

Coffee-Filter Umbrella

Materials:

Dot markers (or regular markers), a coffee filter, a pipe cleaner, glue, and scissors.

Instructions:

Turn a rainy day into fun: fold a coffee filter in half and let your toddler decorate it with markers. Fold it again around a pipe-cleaner handle and secure with glue.

Shellfish

Materials:

Three small shells, a craft eye, watercolor paint and brush, and a hot glue gun.

Instructions:

Have your toddler paint the shells and let them dry. Use a hot glue gun to attach the eye, fin, and tail for a cute shellfish figurine—then play with it in a sandbox!

Flower Name

Materials:

Small flowers, cardboard, a writing utensil, and glue.

Instructions:

Write your child’s name on cardboard. When they’re ready, apply glue to the letters and have them press flowers onto the glue. Tip: Encourage them to say each letter aloud as they place the flowers.

Fall

Falling leaves, cool breezes, golden trees, and warm moments together.

Turkey Paint

Materials:

Ziploc bag, paint (I used red, brown, and yellow), tape, and a marker

Instructions:

Prepare ahead of time by cutting the Ziploc bag along the edges to create two separate pieces. On one piece, draw a picture of a turkey. Flip this piece over and apply the paint: brown on the turkey’s body and yellow and red on the feathers. Carefully place the other bag piece on top and tape the edges to prevent any paint from leaking. To be extra careful, place it on a container. Tip: Ask your little one to call out the colors before they start mixing. Once the colors begin to blend, ask them what new colors they see.

Turkey Feathers

Materials:

Contact paper, construction paper, scissors, glue, tape, and feathers

Instructions:

This was a two-part activity. First, assemble the turkey body by gluing the eyes, beak, and snood onto the body. Next, tape the corners of the contact paper to the window, positioning the body toward the bottom center. Then give your toddler feathers, and they will instinctively know what to do!

Paper Sunflower

Materials:

Construction paper, scissors, marker, and glue

Instructions:

Prepare ahead of time by drawing an outline of a sunflower. Cut strips of construction paper in yellow, brown, and green. Show your child a picture of the final product and have them call out each color. Have your toddler cut small squares from the paper strips, then glue the squares onto the sunflower. We enjoyed crumpling the paper; either way, it looks like a work of art!

Pipe Cleaner Tree

Materials:

Construction paper, pipe cleaners, glue, and scissors

Instructions:

Prepare ahead of time by cutting out an outline of a tree. Have your toddler glue the tree onto another piece of construction paper. Next, cut small pieces of pipe cleaner and have them glue them onto the tree.

Pumpkin Seed Art

Materials:

Pumpkin seeds, green and orange markers, canvas, glue, food coloring, water, and vinegar

Instructions:

Place a handful of pumpkin seeds on a paper towel and let them dry overnight. To add color, mix a few drops of food coloring with one tablespoon of vinegar and a little water, then stir in the seeds and let them sit overnight. On a canvas, draw a pumpkin outline with orange and green markers to show where seeds should go. Read a book to your toddler to get them excited, then guide them as they place the seeds to match the colored outline.

Sticky Pumpkin

Materials:

Contact paper, tape, markers (orange and brown), and tissue paper (orange and brown)

Instructions:

For a problem-solving twist, draw a pumpkin on the non-sticky side of contact paper, coloring the stem brown and the pumpkin orange. Tape all four corners of the paper to a window. Cut the tissue paper into small squares. Guide your toddler on where to place the brown versus orange squares; they will catch on quickly!

Apple Plate

Materials:

Construction paper, small paper plate, red paint, stapler or glue

Instructions:

Get out the red paint and have your toddler either finger-paint or use a paintbrush to color the apple. Once it dries, staple the brown stem in place (or glue it). When paint is involved, toddlers always have fun!

Leaf Painting

Materials:

Paint, paintbrush, tape, leaves, and a canvas (optional)

Instructions:

Enjoy the outdoors by collecting different kinds of leaves. Tape each leaf by the backside to your canvas. Let your toddler paint over the leaves with red, orange, and yellow paints—avoiding green mixes that turn brown. After it dries, remove the leaves to reveal beautiful leaf outlines.

Fall Tree Hands

Materials:

Construction paper, scissors, and glue

Instructions:

On brown construction paper, trace your child’s hands and cut them out. Cut small leaves from red, orange, green, and yellow paper. Glue the handprints and leaves onto a blue sheet to create fall trees shaped like your toddler’s hands. Frame and date your masterpiece!

Hedgehog

Materials:

Construction paper, buttons (optional), leaves, and glue

Instructions:

Prepare the hedgehog body by cutting it out of construction paper. Attach two buttons for the nose and eye. Collect leaves with your toddler, then glue the buttons and leaves onto the hedgehog body.

Candy Corn

Materials:

Construction paper, scissors, and glue

Instructions:

Draw the shape of a candy corn on white construction paper and divide it into three sections. Have your toddler cut small pieces of white, orange, and yellow paper. Guide them as they glue each color in its section—great practice for following instructions!

Colorful Turkey

Materials:

Small paper plate, tissue paper, glue, fake eyes, and red, brown, and orange construction paper

Instructions:

Cut out the face, feet, nose, and wattle from construction paper. Add glue to the paper plate, then let your toddler layer tissue paper and fake eyes to decorate their turkey.

Turkey Handprint

Materials:

White construction paper, brown marker, paint in brown, purple, yellow, green, and orange, a paint tray, paintbrush, damp cloths, and a laminator (optional)

Instructions:

Place paint on a paper plate. Use a paintbrush to coat your child’s palm with brown paint, then quickly wipe it off with a damp cloth. Paint each finger a different color, wiping off each between colors. Press the painted hand onto a sheet of paper. Have extra cloths ready for cleanup. Finally, draw a nose and feet and add text: “I made this little turkey so everyone can see that I am thankful for my family who loves me!”

Plate of Spider Webs

Materials:

Paper plate, yarn, masking tape, scissors, hole punch, fake spiders, and a black crayon

Instructions:

Draw on the paper plate with a black crayon. Punch holes around the edge. Tape one end of the yarn to the back of the plate, then thread it through the holes to create a web. Glue a fake spider onto the web.

TP Spiders

Materials:

Toilet paper roll, white construction paper, scissors, black paint, fake eyeballs, and glue

Instructions:

Cut the toilet paper roll into eight strips for the legs. Bend the legs outward. Dip the roll into black paint and stamp it onto paper. Once dry, add fake eyes to complete your spider.

Barn Sticks

Materials:

Red and blue construction paper, popsicle sticks, scissors, and glue

Instructions:

Cut out a barn shape from red paper and glue it onto a blue background. Guide your toddler as they glue popsicle sticks onto the barn.

Cow Bell

Materials:

Silo cup, small bell, pipe cleaner, construction paper, scissors, and glue

Instructions:

Create two holes at the top of the cup and thread a pipe cleaner through. Loop the ends to hang the bell. Cut construction paper shapes and glue them onto the cup. Show your toddler how to make it ring!

Cow Plate

Materials:

White paper plate, black and pink paper, black marker, fake eyes, popsicle stick, green paper (grass), glue, and scissors

Instructions:

Cut out a pink mouth and add nostrils with a marker. Cut black ears and spots, then glue the eyes, mouth, spots, grass, and a popsicle stick handle to the back.

Q-tip Tree

Materials:

White and brown paper, scissors, glue, Q-tips, paint (yellow, red, white, and orange), and masking tape

Instructions:

Cut a tree trunk and branches from brown paper. Bundle five Q-tips together and tape them to create paint dabbers. Glue the trunk and branches to a background, then dip the Q-tips in paint and dab to add leaves. Ask your toddler to name the part of the tree—trunk, branches, or leaves—as they work.

Sticky Pumpkin Scene

Materials:

Contact paper, black and orange paper, orange tissue paper, and scissors

Instructions:

Cut a black frame, tree, pumpkins, grass, and an orange moon from construction paper. Cut contact paper to match the frame and attach it behind the frame. Place the shapes on the sticky side, then let your toddler crumple and stick tissue paper pieces around the scene. Hang it on the window for display!

Winter

Snowflakes falling, warm cocoa, twinkling lights, and quiet snowy walks.

Brown Bear

Materials:

Toilet paper roll, brown paint, fake eyes, glue, marker, pom-poms, and construction paper

Instructions:

Paint the toilet paper roll brown and let it dry completely. Glue on the mouth, eyes, and ears to create your bear’s face. Add pom-poms for extra texture—so cute!

Fruit Garland

Materials:

Clementines, lemons, limes, small star- and circle-shaped cookie cutters, and pipe cleaner

Instructions:

Peel the fruits carefully, leaving enough rind to cut shapes. Use cookie cutters to stamp out stars and circles from the peel (an adult may need to assist). Poke small holes in each shape, then thread them onto a pipe cleaner. Hang on your tree for a fragrant decoration!

Fingerprint Lights

Materials:

Canvas, green/yellow/red paint, and marker

Instructions:

Write the word “Love” in cursive and draw a lamp holder. Dip your child’s fingertip in paint and press along the cord to mimic Christmas lights. Tip: Use one color at a time and have your child name it. Or write “Joy” instead of “Love” for a festive twist.

Santa Beard

Materials:

Contact paper, tape, marker, construction paper, scissors, and cotton balls

Instructions:

Cut Santa’s face and hat from construction paper. Tape contact paper (sticky side out) to a door and draw a beard outline. Provide cotton balls for your child to stick within the outline. Bonus: Number 25 spots for an advent-style countdown!

Dot Snowflake

Materials:

Paper, pencil or marker, and dot stickers

Instructions:

Draw a snowflake outline on paper (search online for inspiration). Show how to place dot stickers along the lines, then let your child fill in the design.

Painting on Ice

Materials:

Water, freezer-safe container, paint, and paintbrush

Instructions:

Fill a container with water and freeze overnight. To remove, run warm water around the container’s edge. Lightly wet the ice surface so paint will stick. As your child paints, discuss primary colors and the new shades they create.

Sparkly Snowflake

Materials:

Popsicle sticks, paint, glue, sparkles, and string

Instructions:

Paint popsicle sticks and let dry overnight. Glue them into a snowflake shape and attach a loop of string for hanging. Finally, add glue and sprinkle sparkles for extra shimmer.

Cold Hands, Warm Hearts

Materials:

String, red/pink/white construction paper, glue, and marker

Instructions:

Cut mittens and hearts from paper and a length of string. Glue mittens and hearts onto the string. Add the text “Cold Hands, Warm Hearts” at top and bottom. A sweet keepsake or gift for grandparents!

Marshmallow Penguin

Materials:

Mini marshmallows, black/white/orange construction paper, fake eyes, and glue

Instructions:

Cut a black outline and white belly for the penguin. Cut a small heart for the beak and two feet from orange paper. Glue all pieces and top with marshmallows for a fluffy penguin!

Sticker Heart

Materials:

Paper, marker, and stickers

Instructions:

Draw a heart (or any shape). Have your child place stickers along the outline. Simple prep, big engagement—keep stickers handy!

Valentine’s Day Bug

Materials:

Toilet paper roll, fake eyes, glue, red construction paper, red pom-poms, red paint, and markers (optional)

Instructions:

Paint the roll red and let dry overnight. Next day, add fake eyes, paper antennas, and heart-shaped wings. Finish with a pom-pom nose. Tip: Let your child add sparkly marker details!

Window Mosaic

Materials:

Wax paper, tissue paper, scissors, and glue

Instructions:

Cut wax paper into a fun shape (circle, heart, triangle). Cut small tissue pieces and glue them onto one side of the wax paper. Use words like “squeeze,” “flip,” and “push” as you work. Display on a window!
